I received the following e-mail from Velobrew on December 11, 2009

*****************

"I was contacted last week and made aware that the Penny Farms Group was noticed by the Clay County Sheriff / Green Cove Springs Police Department. It would be strongly advise (as usual) to abide by all the road rules during the ride.

Please take particular care at the intersection of 16 and 17 ( after the Shands bridge, just before the break ). This is a very dangerous intersection where people have been killed in accidents in the past by RUNNING RED LIGHTS.

Be Smart and safe"

A local cyclist Romero was in a hit and run accident last week.

This newspaper article "DRIVERS AN INCREASING DANGER FOR BICYLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS IN JACKSONVILLE" from April 5, 2010 mentions Romero.

http://jacksonville.com/news/metro/2010-04-05/story/jacksonville-pedestrians-and-cyclists-struggle-avoid-getting-hitch

The comments after the article show a lot of road rage toward cyclists.

Let's be careful out there.
