Is anyone riding, have ridden (enjoyed!!), or have, in their stable, a Ciocc? Hopefully from the early 80s??
I am on the hunt for a ride for me from that era. I am interested in info on geometry and measurements of frame for reference should I locate one for sale. Project bike will be fine!!

Yes, we are alive and kicking!!
Rode thru the winter here with it's really rude winds...like climbing hills, hmm?
I have outgrown my new ride and am on the hunt for a Ciocc SL Special from 1981. She is what I raced on and am happiest riding. I found my girl has been sold, 2007, and am still trying to track her down.....bad marriage and probably scrap :-((((( by now....
I should have never let her go...
I am educating myself on metalergy sp? and geometry and stuff I didn't pay attention to during the racing years. So Cool!!
Hope you both are riding a bit and enjoying the spring! If you get up here, we would like to ride with you on several nice , albeit challenging hills/winds roads!! just out our drive way
Happy Easter All!

I don't have any local training rides planned for the rest of the year. I do have a couple of out of town rides planned this weekend and next but I think Farrell and his girlfriend Kelly will be riding up that way once a month or so.

Good luck tracking down your long lost love.

Paul

Thank you for the luck...so far, looks like I will need it!
Do Farrell and Kelly use this sight? To set up a ride?
Good riding where ever you are! :-))

well,i am broadening sp? my search. Not just a Ciocc now, but needs to be an Italian frame from the early 80s. Gios, Masi, Guerciotti, De Rosa, etc. 49cm to 54cm...project bike ok. I am 5'4" and the frames with seat tube very close in length with the top tube work well. I am trying to figure the correlation length of the chain stays as the Ciocc I rode was nice and snappy!! Any advise will be appreciated :-))

BethAnn, having been an Italian Officionado myself, I've found the true-blue Italian Steed is hard to find.

However, with that said, here are some web sites you can earmark and peruse from time to time to find that elusive beauty you so crave:

E-bay (of course). However, you can put in a custom search so that you can get daily e-mail should anything get posted for sale you're looking for.

http://www.classical-bicycles.com/ This guy is in Belgium, so you'd have to pay international shipping costs. He mainly finds and sells Belgian-made bikes/frames but occasionally has something Italian.

http://www.campyoldy.co.uk/ Like the guy above--however out of England--may have what you're looking for. Has several "Rossin" frames as well as a lot of old Campy parts.

http://www.recycledcycles.net/ Ah, this guy is in St. Louis. Is a "reseller" of used and sometimes brand new frames & bikes. The stock is constantly changing.

http://www.serotta.com/Forum/ This is a forum site connected to the Web site for Serotta Bikes. Join the forum and you can scan the "classifieds" for what you're looking for, and maybe a few surprises.

http://www.smartcycles.com/ Almost saving the best for last. If your search for the ultimate "Chee-Oh-Ch," comes up empty, check this site. They're in Norwalk, CT and sell replica frames (new) as well as a fair number of Italian frames in newer technologies and geometries.

Good Luck.

Paul

BTW, if I run across something in your size, I'll give a "hollar"

Thankyou so much for the info!!Paul.
I am beginning to really focus on the De Rosa this time...so gorgeous! It looks like frame specs are similiar to Ciocc from what research I have done so far. I wish there was a place local that had these vintage bikes for me to see up close and personal. I would see some back in the old days, others training with us; but didn't appreciate it then.
I did some measuring on my present bike and looks like a 50 - 51 cm will be good. Chris is riding a 54cm and he is 5'10". But he wants to focus on my new ride (old girl!:-)) first.
Thank again. Ride well!

Hmmm...the more I research, the more I see quite a few really nice machines. Anyone know if Ten Speed Drive is still in business? Still import Italian bikes? Opinions on different road racers? Wish there was a bike show near here or somewhere to see these beauties in person!!

BethAnn,

Mark Boyd and I (Travis from Folkston) should be riding this Saturday (May 15th) at 8:00ish. We'll start out at the intersection of Hwy 121 and Main St. We could ride out toward your place on Reynolds if you prefer and want to ride.

It IS all about the bike!

Hello Travis,
Sorry we missed the ride...Chris has been working a lot, different hours, and not getting to ride much. He will probably start on the indoor trainer this week with afternoon storms forecast every day. That should help get fitness back up pretty quickly:-)
I haven't been in here for a while. So maybe call next time?
Hope we get to ride with you guys soon.

Hey BethAnn!

I haven't been on in a while. The small group (three) have been riding every Saturday starting at 8:00 a.m. This past weekend (8/21) we rode from Main & 121 to Woodbine and back using Hwy 252 past the prison. Nice ride with little traffic. We are training a couple of people for the Swampman 100 century in MacClenny, FL on Sept 18. They have rides ranging from 25 to 100 miles. MacClenny is only 45 minutes from Folkston straight down 121. Hope we can ride again someday.
