Social Rides

The North Florida Bicycle Club's The Social Rides are held on various days of the week and start a little later than our other club rides. The emphasis is on fun and food as opposed to speed and endurance. Please read and understand the following points prior to your participation:

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED AS A MATTER OF CLUB POLICY.  Bicycles are subject to almost all of the same rules as motor vehicles when on the road.

Headphones are illegal under state law.

Anyone riding with a NFBC sponsored ride must sign a ride sheet at the beginning of the ride, which includes a
 Waiver of LiabilityNO EXCEPTIONS!

A minor must have have parental or guardian permission to participate in an NFBC sponsored ride.  A separate Minor Waiver of Liability is provided for this purpose, and must be signed and  presented to the ride leader before the start of the ride  – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Any rider refusing to sign the wavier is not considered part of the NFBC ride.

When riding, please be predictable and courteous.  For your safety and others, inform others in your group of your intended movements and don’t do anything suddenly.  A, B, C and S designators indicate the intensity of the rides and suggest an average speed the group will maintain.

See our "CLUB RIDES" section for our weekly Sunday ride, which varies from week to week.  See our Area/Repeating ride list for rides scheduled at different times throughout the week.

Ride Ratings:
A = 18-21 MPH     B = 14-17 MPH     C = up to 14 MPH
S = Social Ride.  The emphasis is on the social side of the club, so the speed will be that of the slowest rider in the group.

The ride times indicated are the times that the rides start.  Please arrive early enough to get yourself and your bike ready to ride at the posted start time.  Courtesy and respect for your fellow riders in this manner is important.

Mileage varies from 20 to 30 depending on participation and skill level.  Average speed is usually 12 mph or less.  This is the ride to build up your mileage base for longer or faster rides.  Our rides and changes to them are announced via our Srider Yahoo Group. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/sriders/ Please subscribe if you want up to date information on these rides. We are attempting to schedule an "S" Ride each Saturday, but there will be exceptions.  The Saturday "S" Rides usually start from Open Road Bicycle on Hendricks Ave. at 9:00 AM. This changes regularly so watch emails for exceptions as we begin some rides on the west-side.

The Wednesday "S" Rides will begin at the Imeson Rd. end of the Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail at 9 AM.  This ride goes to the TA Truck Stop in Baldwin for breakfast.  If the weather prohibits participation, we meet at Denny’s for breakfast.  Dennis will be the ride leader and Clyde will fill in when necessary.  Dennis doesn't start a ride in the RAIN or if it's below 40 degrees or above 90.
