We will ride 33 miles at a C/S pace with several rest stops. A NO DROP C/Social pace ride with attention to cyclists who want to learn to ride with groups. Please check the NFBC Calendar/Forum (Announcements) for ANY changes to the ride start time or cancelations prior to leaving for the ride.
Join us as we bike around the Reddie Point area. Optional meal in the area after ride. THIS RIDE COUNTS FOR CLUB POINTS AND MILEAGE. A = 18-21 MPH / B = 14-17 MPH / C = up to 14 MPH S = Social Ride. The emphasis is on the social aspect of the club, they are no-drop rides and the pace will be determined by the group at the start of the ride.
Reddie Point is the peninsula on the south bank of the St John's River north of Jacksonville University. It is one of the most scenic locations on the St John River. The ride starts at the Arlington Lion's Club Park and then travels east to the "Park and Ride" at Mayport and Wonderwood.. Along the way you will see views of St John’s River rarely seen by most residents. On the way back we take a side trip to the Fort Caroline National Memorial where we climb to the Ribault Column which is one of the highest points in Jacksonville. This 33 mile out and back route features rolling hills and bridges with 600 feet of elevation along the route. Most of the route follows roads with bicycle lanes.
