On February 15, 2022, Bert Shaw passed away. He was a member of our club since 2006 and served on the club’s board as advocacy Director and he was named as the President of the NFBC Pedaling for Safety in 2022. Bert was continually striving to make cycling better and safer for all of us in North Florida. We are all grateful for all he contributed to our club and our cycling community. On May 15, we will hold Bert’s Bow Tie Birthday Ride to honor Bert on what would have been his 94th birthday. For many years Bert was the Ride Leader for the Town Center Ride on Monday mornings. Thus we will follow that route on the May 15th ride. The first 30 riders to show up will have the honor of wearing bow ties during the ride. We have pre-tied ties so Brian Reyes does have to spend the entire morning doing that for everyone. If you have your own bow tie please bring it and wear it.
This will be an urban ride following the same route on the Southside in St. Johns Town Center area which Bert followed every Monday
